Fanny Latour-Lambert

Finding it hard to believe these photos and videos have been captured by a 19-year old girlie.

Playing with light

Light-lovers like me get creative this time of the year.
Not only is it getting increasingly dark again both in the evenings and mornings, but also there's the rain that feels as pleasant as someone sneezing in your face (revolting). Luckily, I've been proactive with my schemes this time - instead of reminiscing on the summer in front of the television, I shall take advantage of every_single indoor (not convinced with the outdoors) activity I find remotely interesting. I'm talking art exhibitions, cosy cafés, music and catching up with movies I never get round to watching otherwise. I believe I'll fit in some ladylike tea parties in as well..

On Friday I visited Kiasma, the museum of contemporary arts here in Helsinki with my school's arts group. They'd just opened a new exhibition on the previous day and let me tell you it was great. Definitely going on a round #2! The amount of thought put into these works was amazing and I found myself stuck from my nose to the labels beside the works. Brilliant.

I admit, exciting isn't what first comes to my mind when I think of late autumn, but hey, I'm being open-minded, which is just what our IB coordinator encourages. Challenge accepted.

Champagne & Plastic Cups

The sky out is beautiful. Clouds of pink and orange blend in the blue background, softening the otherwise rough-looking construction sites, but hey, contrast my bag; Sweet and sour, flowers between pavements, in-your-face looks with an in-my-arms personality..

The scenery made me think of this dreamy song (and video!), by Grimes, which you can watch and listen to below. Plenty of contrast, she's got going there!

I hope I'd be busy enough to take it easy.

Clothes and Thoughts

Cheerio!
Here's an outfit post from Sunday afternoon, when I went to have a cup of tea with my super friend. Despite the cloudy weather, we were bubbling away on the terrace without a clue of the time - a real no-no when you have a history quiz the next day.. Anyway, two newcomers joined the jungle of my wardrobe: a pair of blue, thick jersey trousers and this silver ring. (Which got the response of "quite bondage" when I got home.)
The trousers I welcome with open arms, as they're comfortable as anything, but don't resemble wintery under-armour too much due to the seaming and zippers along the waist.

Yesterday evening I was doing my arts homework, which was to plan a studio work relating to our chosen theme. I was thinking about 21st century femininity and how women are supposed to act today. In the past, women's roles have always been clearly defined, but now, when every rule has been rebelled against, are we really able to choose what we would like to be? It brought to my mind a video I saw on youtube, where a young woman was talking about how she would like to go back in time and be the "ideal wife" with a bread-winning husband. She received some pretty harsh response - mostly from women. It made me question: Are we really free to be whatever we'd like to be?

Feeling Feline

My friend and I spent our Thursday evening in a less usual way. We attended an open-air cat film festival, where volunteers submitted and organised videos, that were projected on to a screen outside. Brilliant. To my understanding this was the first kitty festival in Finland, at least. More, more I say! If it isn't clear by now, I am a huge kitty fan and therefore couldn't believe my ears when I heard about it. I can haz film festival?!

Not only was the whole cat thing cool, but the fact that a cool DJ was playing music throughout the night   in the ugly-pretty surroundings was brill! Kalasatama is mostly building sites, rubble and graffiti-covered concrete plains with boats etc. just crumbling down in to the sea. It's a slight shame to see so many neglected things there, but I must say, they look kind of cool at the same time. Helsinki's East-side ghetto is just getting cooler and cooler in my eyes!

My bedtime is long-gone now.

Vive le chill

What a week! Only four days of school behind me and already I'm dreaming after the easygoing, yet exciting days of leisure, when all I needed to think about was what I'd like to do and what I'd like to eat (food for life). I guess it's just the whole hassle of getting back to school and having to do more, that has got me on edge.. I'm sure this will pass and I'll be able to focus more on making the best effort I can in what I do. Just having these two free days has made me feel better and more refreshed.
This image untangles my brain every time I feel I need help with doing so. Now that I think about it, this image could be slightly disturbed, but for someone like me who loves water, weightlessness and chandeliers, it's spot on. Let's get busy.

Ps. Alt-J works. Always.

Keeping It Surreal

Thursdays have never come this good. I've never been a fan of this particular day, but yesterday's brunch in the park was a real table turner. My friend and I met up for some freshly baked seedy croissants, salads, quality coffees and a slice of devilish cheesecake (numz). To top it all off, we banged some Frank Ocean through the speakers and even caught a glimpse of the sun! Here are some captured memories.

Slow down and enjoy.

City Is My Church

Bonsoir and a good Sunday to all!
I have had a brilliant weekend with my friends sailing through the city I know best - Helsinki. I feel like it had been too long since I'd walked THESE streets and felt THIS city, so the Kallio Block Party was just the ticket for me! I didn't seem to be the only one up for celebrating the bohemian part of town, though. The main street of Kallio was heaving with people looking more and more eccentric and I loved it. If there's one thing I love the most in Helsinki's block parties, it's observing people and their outfits. Unfortunately I was too much of a a squid to remember my camera as I left, so all you can do is trust me and let your imagination run wild.
Today I went on a walk to soak up this beautiful natural light. Ah, I'm a sucker for crisp and gentle sunlight! On my way back I couldn't help but take a few pictures with my (poor) phone camera, in attempt to give some sort of an idea about what I mean with this light thing. Below are pictures of what I wore yesterday and of my Sunday stroll. As an added treat, I've added pictures from Friday evening's Asian feast, made with love by myself and my friend, Eero. I do have to apologize for the somewhat awful quality of these pictures.

Our shrimp miso ramen, dumplings and fried sesame seed tofu rocked my world.

Let's have a great week.

Minor Thing

Well not really. I'll finally be doing something I've dreamt for for the past howmanyyears - going to a Red Hot Chili Peppers gig. Ooh! Tomorrow's a big day for a girl like me and I can't wait! The silly thing is that I only realised it's tomorrow yesterday.. Well at least I've got everything ready! (wishful thinking)
To continue on the RHCP theme, here are some of my favourite pictures of the band; some old and some new. Hey oh!

Caught In The Lights

Hello again! I'm back.
I decided to get over one of my fears - blogging. It sounds silly, but for the last six months or so I've been dreading blogger and blogs, since they reminded me of my lack of blogging. I ignored them to my best abilities, for the whole reason I began blogging was to develop my writing and thus figure out if it really is what I'd possibly like to form a career out of. I probably would've carried on in my ways, if I would not have had a chat with a few very important people. Now I've (hopefully) pulled myself together and am back in action. Let's play blog.

These pictures were taken in the breathtaking Dorset, England, where I spent some quality time with my extended family. The photos were taken by Katie Jonzen and the dress and shoes are both from Weekday. (   <3 )

Afterlife

Zombie boy/Skeleton man etc. aka Rick Genest really is pretty cool.
